How cold is this winter? Super cold. Here in the Sunshine State it is all gorgeous sunny days that are actually a bit arctic. People are walking around in 3 jumpers because no one actually owns an overcoat in a subtropical climate. It is strange and lovely to smell everyones wood fires going, I’m sure those fireplaces have only ever seen decorative candles before. I do not have a wood burning fire place, or even a heater, so it has been a bit of a rude shock to me. OK, I have a fireplace in the garden, but that won’t keep me warm.

Do you know what will keep me warm?

A heated throw rug! Like a heated blanket but specifically to snuggle in on the couch!  Not only will they warm up in ten minutes, and keep you warm with 9 heat settings; they are perfectly safe in the washing machine and drier! Genius!! Also, it is much more energy efficient than a fireplace.

Thanks to the lovely people at Origin I have three of these wonderful things to give away. Just leave a comment telling me your favourite way to keep warm this winter and the winner will be drawn on July 31st. Australian residents only, sorry.

xx

EDIT: Thank you to those that entered, the winners of this giveaway are;
Redcliffe Style, because keeping warm with dogs is certainly something I do,
Tracey Weller, for her innovative use of hormones and reverse cycle air con,
and Jessie Hay, because doing the school run in my PJ’s is something I aspire to.
Congratulations, winners! Please email me your mailing addresses asap!

My favourite place to warm up is the fireplace at my local club. Big leather chairs and a beer make it perfect.

I WANT THIS!! I WANT THIS!! I WANT THIS!!! I am so cold, I'm not prepared for this crazy cold weather. I warm up by have a hot shower to warm up my bones, then rugging up in natural layers, having a cup of tea and forcing Lola to cuddle me. It's not enough! Rachel x

This winter is soooooo cold! I'm cold everyday to my core. When it is this cold I can't seem to function and I really need to function! I don't have time not to function! Soooooo this is what I do…..
I hide under my blankets until my husband leaves for work then I sneak downstairs and turn on the heaters then run back upstairs to my warm blankets. About an hour later when I get up the house is a lot warmer. I then can get the kids go off to school.
I promise myself I'll turn the heaters off but these are always empty promises…Ohhhhh well… At 9.30am I usually turn them off and then follow the sun around the yard for 1/2 hour while having a cup of tea. By early afternoon I shut the house up again to keep what little heat the sun brought in and then…yep turn the heaters on again for a few hours. I try to cook warming winter meals to warm the house and our bellys. Lately everyone's been going to bed early just to get under the blankets again. That's how I do it BUT then the damn power bill shows up and dobs my sneaky heater use in…this is the tangled web I seem to weave. Please come soon Spring!

I didn't even know there was a blanket like this. My poor family would adore this. The only heater we have is the reverse cycle air conditioner which I hate and with my hormones keeping me warm enough lately, I don't let anyone put it on anyway! 😉 The trusty dressing-gowns go on as soon as dinner is done! 😉

Favourite way to keep warm, as soon as hubby leaves for work at 5am, I roll over to his spot because he's like an electric blanket! Also nice to be a bit closer to him while he's away.. BRR – It is so cold right now!

I'd love one of these blankets. My favourite way to keep warm this winter is to snuggle up in bed with Masterchef on the TV. How I wish my stay at home hubby was as good in the kitchen (and as hot looking) as some of those contestants!

This year we moved into a new home with no fireplace but figured it was going to get cold – BEST money we spent was putting a fireplace in – LOVING lighting a fire at night !! That blanket would help me stay warm in the TV room which doesn't quite get warm enough from the fire !!!
    Have the best day !

When I'm in bed my ears get cold, I kid you not! This year I found a really cool headband type thing that keeps your hair back like a normal headband but it's made to cover your ears and keep them warm in the snow! It's made out of polar fleece and it's awesome!!!
