Things that are not laundry.

Things that are not laundry.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin A list of things I don’t like finding in the laundry basket. Laundry, obviously. Clean laundry that you couldn’t be bothered refolding and putting in a drawer. Clean laundry that you couldn’t be bothered hanging on a clothes hanger. Clothes that are too small but you ‘don’t know what to do with them’. Clothes that you don’t like any more. Sweaty socks that are inside out, with the dirt trapped in the toe. Shoes that you don’t like or can’t be bothered putting away. Shoes that are dirty. Forgotten school shoes that you will be…

Sanity Sushi: A Personal Ritual

Sanity Sushi: A Personal Ritual

Regular readers, and especially followers on instagram and snapchat, will occasionally hear me talk about “Sanity Sushi’. Every so often I will take myself off for a quiet hour of bento box and glossy magazine consumption, in order to regroup and destress. It works a treat! I’ve only recently realised that subconsciously, I’ve turned the whole experience into a mindfulness ritual. So I guess it’s more of a conscious exercise, being MINDFUL and all. Whatevs. The big realization for me was that is was the mindfulness, not the sushi part, that was the most important. So what this means for…

Slumber Party Ideas

Slumber Party Ideas

Growing up, a particular group of friends and I had a lot of slumber parties – we rotated to a different house each weekend, for months at a time. My biggest memories are of knitting (which I was, and am still, completely crap at) watching endless programs of Monkey Magic and Battle Star Galactica (the old one with that handsome Starbuck and Apollo, so good) and cooking a variety of almost edible creations such as cakes, baklava, noodles and savoury mince. There was lots of talking about boys, books, our dreams for the future (no, really!) as well as a…

Things that make me happy

Things that make me happy

Scaring the crap out of my children. Late at night, when everyone has gone to bed and I finally have the softly lit house to myself, it is ME time. It’s why I stay up so late, because I’m addicted to the ME time. I eat the secret snack, have something nice to drink, turn on Netflix and enjoy the serenity. Sometimes, I do my nails or a face mask. I like to switch it up and use different face masks, to keep my wrinkles on their toes. At this point it does NOT make me happy to see a child appear…

10 things I learned from studying Commercial Cookery

10 things I learned from studying Commercial Cookery

If you follow me on social media, you might have noticed that I went to TAFE recently to study Commercial Cookery.  I did Kitchen Operations, which is the first year of a chef apprenticeship, except it didn’t take a year, it took about 6 weeks. I would have LOVED a year long, part time cookery class, but instead it was condensed into some pretty long, intensive days, as well as work experience at a real restaurant. I loved almost every minute of it, and came out an actual qualified Cook, so it was completely worth it. The class consisted of…
