The Myer Giftorium Experience: Your Christmas shopping just got a lot easier.

The Myer Giftorium Experience: Your Christmas shopping just got a lot easier.

A few weeks ago I was invited to the Brisbane launch of Myers new in-store concept, Giftorium. Like most things Myer do, it was done beautifully; they have really put a lot of thought and effort into this concept! It was such a lovely morning, and really bought out my inner Christmas junkie (that is totally a thing, right?) I wanted to share it with you and tell you why Giftorium is going to be a game changer this Christmas. Giftorium is a store within all 67 Myer stores, each one containing all things Christmas to give you the most…

Playing around with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

Playing around with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

Has it only been a month since Problogger? There was so much to take in and to be honest I am still processing a lot of it. On the very first night at ProBlogger I was lucky to attend the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint event. You must have heard of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, it is a bit of a cult product, and it’s all over the internet – Google it, you’ll see. The event was fantastic for a few reasons; we learned the story behind the product, we got to have a play with it, there were cocktails and…

Gifts and Mysteries #myfamilylens

Gifts and Mysteries #myfamilylens

This post is part of the #myfamilylens competition, sponsored by Olympus and part of #voicesof2014, organised by Kidspot. All images in this post have been taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M10. The prompt I have chosen is Gifted. I am one of those people that become the repository for ‘family heirlooms’. Some people might call these heirlooms ‘junk’, an in actuality a lot of them are. Rusted manual pottery wheel, anyone? No? Maybe people instinctively recognise the secret hoarder that lives within my spirit, and feel safe in the knowledge that I will never throw out precious hand stitched tea towels,…

Amazing Things

Amazing Things

Woah, we are in July already and where have I been? Enjoying the two week long pyjama party that is Winter School Holidays, that’s where. Those 2 months I spent in and out of hospital really took the wind out of my sails, I guess, and just before that saga finished my father passed away from a heart attack. Altogether a pretty crap time! I’ve mainly been sleeping, and trying to eat well and start exercising again; so far it is working and I’m slowly getting my groove back. A running theme has been to enjoy every moment, because it…

Thoughts on Kitchen Design

Thoughts on Kitchen Design

It’s no secret I am lusting after a new kitchen. The kitchen we have is horrible – dysfunctional AND super ugly. It is a tiny galley style kitchen, with exactly 90cm between each bench. If there is more than one person in there, it becomes claustrophobic. The storage is not very well thought out and there is not enough room for our stuff, so it ends up piled on top of cupboards and takes up valuable space on the benches. We don’t have a stuff problem, we have a storage problem! I wasn’t joking when I said the kitchen is…

Scary Movies

Scary Movies

I love scary movies, it’s true. Supernatural thrillers are my genre. I don’t like gore fest type thrillers, because they make me nauseous, but I do love movies that involve vengeful ghosts, demonic forces or any manner of things that go bump in the night. I am telling you this because for Christmas, my sister gave me a DVD of The Conjuring, and five months later it is still scaring the crap out of me. via The Conjuring is loosely based on a ‘true story’, which is Hollywood code for Super Scary. It is about a family with 4 daughters…

Kitchen Table Makeover

Kitchen Table Makeover

The part of the furniture makeover that takes the longest, I find, is discussing your plans with your makeover partner in crime; in this case, Mr BC. We have endless, endless discussions over what finish to use, whether we are changing the structure or even the use of the item, if we need other parts and where we should get them, and so on. I always turn to Pinterest and Mr BC consults his own oracle, eBay. This kitchen table project was no different, and in fact the discussion was more involved, because this table belonged to Mr BC’s Nanna…

Late Summer Gardening

Late Summer Gardening

Yesterday, we finally got into the vegetable garden after an extremely long, super hot summer. It has been such a scorching, dry four plus months that we’ve been to scared to plant anything, because if we feel like shriveling up and dying in this heat then I’m pretty sure a delicate little plant might feel the same. The days are still incredibly hot but we are starting to get some decent rain occasionally. Yes, we are in Autumn but I don’t think anyone has told Mother Nature.  Do you have a husband who likes to prune? Mr BC and I…

Worm Farming

Worm Farming

Last Christmas Mr BC gifted me with a worm farm that he had made himself, with his own three hands. I was super happy because I’d been wanting a worm farm for ever, and also touched that he had made it. Is there anything sweeter than a poo farm, hand made by your sweet heart? No, there is not!  So the worm farm was apparently super easy to make, and sits fairly unobtrusively in the garden. It’s made of 3 stackable 25 litre containers, and a few easy to collect extras. The top two containers have holes drilled into the…
