Instagram Recipes

You know, I post over on instagram almost daily, and sometimes more than that. I mostly post images of whatever I’m cooking for dinner, and I’ve realised that despite getting a good response, I rarely post the recipe for it! I guess that unless a recipe requires careful research, I generally cook on the fly, and I tend to think that sort of cooking doesn’t need a recipe so why would I write one? And do you know what else I realised? This is faulty fucking logic because my main objective with this blog is to share how easy it…

Old Fashioned Fishcakes

Old Fashioned Fishcakes

Here is an idea for Good Friday, Old fashioned fishcakes! Soothing nursery food that everyone loves, baked in the oven so fairly healthy, and goes well with green veggies or a salad. It also appeases those people who insist on fish for Good Friday. YUM. Old Fashioned Fishcakes Ingredients About 2 kgs of potatoes, more if you have to feed a lot of people or you’d like leftovers. I recommend this.  1 large tin of tuna, packed in brine. We love Sirena brand in the Chaos house, but go with your fave. Look, use tinned salmon or even cooked fresh…

Clay Pot Fish

Clay Pot Fish

Do you have a fussy eater in your house? Monkey Boy does not like anything with sauce, or gravy, or mixed up, or anything unusual on his plate. He generally does not like fish, apart from fish fingers, or fish he has caught himself, as long as someone else has filleted it and it has no bones or skin. I cooked this Clay Pot Fish with the understanding that he probably wouldn’t like it, and was really surprised to see it disappearing from his plate.  I LOVE this chicken Mum!  It’s fish, Darling, I said.  Yep, it’s the best chicken I’ve ever eaten! …

Prawns! My FAVOURITE! #myfamilylens

Prawns! My FAVOURITE! #myfamilylens

This post is my final post in the #myfamilylens competition, sponsored by Olympus and part of #voicesof2014, organised by Kidspot. All images in this post have been taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M10. The prompt I have chosen is Favourite. Growing up, I ate a lot of prawns. Dad was a very keen fisherman, and if it was prawn season he would be out there every night, with his home made underwater-torch-on-a-broom-handle-prawn-attracter, bringing home prawns by the bucket. This would mean we ate prawns for breakfast, lunch and tea. Did we appreciate it? NO! My sister and I would open…

Jambalaya

Jambalaya

You know how you cook something all the time, then for some strange reason just seem to get out of the habit? That is me and Jambalaya. It used to be on high rotation in the BC house and I don’t know why I ever stopped that! I love Cajun Creole food, and firmly believe I lived in New Orleans in a former life; but you don’t have to believe in reincarnation to enjoy it. It is super tasty, healthy, easy to make and very flexible. It ticks all the boxes for a quick family dinner! Jambalaya Ingredients 1 or…
